Raef
Raef’s musical journey began while studying Computer Science at the University of Maryland, where he sang tenor in a comedic A Cappella group. Transitioning to a career in teaching, he continued songwriting and busking at metro stations during his spare time. His introduction to the national stage occurred through the trio rock-band, ‘Great Seneca,’ which toured the USA as part of the ‘Voices for Change’ initiative. Subsequently, Raef joined the ‘Poetic Vision Tour,’ a group of traveling musicians and poets dedicated to inspiring cultural renewal in the American Muslim community. Over a decade of sharing his music globally, Raef signed with Awakening Records, releasing his debut album ‘The Path’ in 2014. He performed for the cause of rebuilding Gaza in the ‘Sound of Light’ event in the UK and Australia, where the concerts set a record as the largest Australian Islamic concert to date. Raef also collaborated with Maher Zain in ‘Songs for the Orphans’ in Canada. Since signing with Awakening Records, Raef has performed in 100 concerts across five tours in four different countries.
