Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, born in 1974 in Faisalabad, Pakistan, hails from a lineage deeply rooted in the qawwali tradition, being the son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and the nephew of the legendary Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Tutored by his uncle from a young age, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan began singing at three and underwent formal training at seven. By fifteen, he became an integral part of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s renowned qawwali party, gaining global recognition. Following Nusrat’s untimely demise, Rahat assumed the mantle, sustaining the traditional music of Hazrat Amir Khosroo and delivering a spiritual message worldwide. Bridging the East and West with his Sufi music, Rahat collaborated with Eddie Vedder in the Dead Man Walking benefit concert in 1998 and contributed to various international projects, including the soundtrack of The Four Feathers in 2002 and Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto in 2006. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s cross-border appeal is evident in his blockbuster songs for Indian films, while in Pakistan, he’s a prolific playback singer for films and dramas. After a five-season hiatus, Rahat returns to Coke Studio in its 7th Season, showcasing his enduring musical prowess.
